To become a certified Hand Reflexologist with RAC, the student must be a Foot Reflexologist (either RAC certified or having completed a course equivalent to RAC training) and a member of the RAC at the time of registration. The course consists of 18 hours of class time, 5 hours of home study, 2 exams (one written and one practical), 30 case study sessions and ongoing support for a total of 71 credit hours in Hand Reflexology.

The course outline for the Hand Reflexology course includes:

• an outline of the history of Hand Reflexology from the past to the present;
• theory of Hand Reflexology;
• the structure and function of the hand (anatomy and physiology);
• anatomy and physiology review;
• the reflexes of the hand, their location and what they correspond to;
• key areas of emphasis for specific conditions (pathophysiology);
• demonstrations involving hands-on participation from the students in the course;
• hand assessments/evaluations;
• charting skills to include health record and observation form documentation;
• session protocol & hand palpation;
• hand reflexology relaxation and treatment techniques;
• practical sessions (repeated several times throughout the course in order to gain skill in application and evaluation).
